As of June 2020, the South Sudan refugee crisis wasw the largest in Africa and the third largest refugee crisis in the world.  Nearly 7 years after the civil-war began, conflict and severe food insecurity left 30-40% of South Sudan’s citizens displaced.  In a country of just 12.5 million, more than 2.2 million fled to neighboring countries, and from 1.5 to 2 million more were internally displaced. After several years of stalled negotiations, the South Sudan government once again claimed an end to the war, with the establishment of the Transitional Government of National Unity in February of 2020.  Since the war broke out, the government established 12 peace agreements, none of which have brought sustainable peace. As tenuous peace negotiations continue, families seeking, safety, food and shelter at home and across borders remained uncertain.
